Question about acne medications?

Has anyone ever been prescribed oral pills for acne? what was it called? and did it work? just wondering.. i have mild to moderate acne not severe but its still pretty noticable and my dermatologist keeps prescribing me antibiotics and they dont work neither does topical stuff.. my bf used something called accutane a couple years ago and it worked great, but my doctor hasent given it to me yet bc im not bad enough…

just wondering what acne medications has helped you or someone you know?
yeah i’ve tried proactiv for about 8 months and it did help but my acne didnt go away and it was still pretty noticable and irritating.. :-\
