alternative acne medications?

Sunday, September 30th, 2007
beethovenfan2005 asked:

my acne has subsided considerably because I am now older, but I still have occassion flares. proactiv never worked for me, it made me so itchy, I wanted to scratch my face off. so now I only use neutrogena spot gels. the problem is sometimes I don’t think it’s strong enough. benzoyl peroxide is something that my skin can’t get used to. any suggestions as to what should I try ? I will not take any oral meds though, only topical. thanks.

About how long does it take for acne medications to show results?

Friday, September 7th, 2007
Shannon asked:

I am currently using acne free, a 3 step program I bought from Walmart. I have been using it for about 4 weeks. I would like to know about how long it take to see a clear face with any type of medications, to figure out if I need to wait a couple more weeks or just call my doctor for a dermatologist referral. thanks.

I am seeing small baby step progress, and I didn’t expect much more than that. So far, I see that i do have smoother skin where I am not affected by acne and I have only seen one new pimple within the past couple of days. Are those good signs or should I be expecting more at this point?

Stanley

I am 6 weeks pregnant and my acne is getting really bad since I can not use any of my acne medications now?

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007
nono1 asked:

My derm had me stop everything but Erythromycin topical gel about 2 months before conceiving. I am getting cystic acne. Does anyone know if I can use salicylic acid or sulfur based products while pregnant. My derm told me not to use benzoyl per oxide or retinols. She okyed glycolic acid though. I tried using the DDF glycolic cleaser and toner and that really dried me out. Also, is it ok to use hair bleaching cream to lighten the facial hair. I used to use Jolen, but I am afraid to use it now.
Thanks in advance for answering my long question.
