Acne becoming immune to acne medications?

Maybe it’s my imagination, but it seems like after 2-3 weeks of using any acne medication, it suddenly stops working for me.
This happens with every acne medicine I have tried, including Proactive. Is it possible for my skin to develop an immunity to the acne medicine? What should I do?
